Honored by the Gottlob-Frick-Gesellschaft
I was recently honored (October 16 and 17, 2010) for my achievements in opera by the Gottlob-Frick-Gesellschaft in Germany. Gottlob Firck was a very famous bass who sang for years in Bayreuth, Vienna, etc. This organization is dedicated to his honor and all opera singers who have contributed outstanding achievements. I received a medallion and certificate for my achievements and put my hand in a clay tablet, which imprint will be hung in the city hall together with other singers who have received this award. It was great fun to see and talk with singers, with whom I’ve sung over the years - especially, Bayreuth singers with whom I sang when I was just a very young singer beginning my career. Among others, there were Hans Sotin, Bernd Weikl, Franz Mazura, Inge Borkh, Günter Wewel (well-known TV moderator and singer), Eva Wagner-Pasquier (daugther of Wolfgang Wagner and director of the Bayreuth Festival), and Gerhart Asche (well-known music critic, etc. This was an amazing event and I was delighted that I was invited and honored this year!
